The Lineage
In the Spring of 2013, SGT Anderson (Stone) developed the original Cadet Ranger™ School as a six week course. The following year, SGT Leitner joined in the further development of the CRS program. Cadet Ranger™ Challenge and Cadet Ranger™ School now make up the Cadet Ranger™ Program. Today the current Cadet Ranger™ Program has been well received and has become one of the toughest Cadet courses available.
The Cadet Ranger™ Program is owned and managed by TACSIM Media Group and under the supervision of Ranger Hall of Fame, MSG (Ret.) Max Mullen. TACSIM is proud to have the opportunity to promote the moral and ethics of the special operations community and those of the quite professional.
The Tab
Cadet Ranger™ School is organized into two phases. However, before a Cadet can train they must they must pass an intensive selection process. Selection is designed with specific goals and methods making it the hardest and most rewarding course any Cadet can attend. Most Cadets that do not pass selection, have the option to return the next year. The current dropout rate averages 30%. For those who pass selection, they will find themselves part of a team who has proven to themselves and to each other their right to continue in the training.
Phase I is designed to expose Cadets to challenging situations designed to test and develop their skills in extreme leadership, teamwork, self-reliance. The skills they learn are designed to be used and built upon the rest of their lives. By the end of Phase I, Cadets must work as a self-sustaining team to plan, train, execute, and debrief missions.
Upon completion of Phase I, the Cadet Ranger™ has earned the right to wear the Cadet Ranger™ Tab.
The Beret
In our first year, a group of British Army Cadets visited the camp. During their two week stay we were asked to involve them in our training. By that time my Cadets had earned their Cadet Ranger™ tabs and were just starting to work towards the beret. As the British Cadet trained with the Cadet Rangers, they learned about the selection process for the Cadet Ranger™ program. Their commander then asked if their British Cadets could also go through a day of selection. After consulting the Cadet Rangers, we agreed and put the British Cadets through an extremely tough day combining all of the hard aspects of the 4 day selection process. The British Cadets faired well and earned each others respect. As a thank you, the Cadet Rangers ask to present them with the first ever honorary Cadet Ranger™ award.
In response to this recognition, the British Cadets awarded the Cadet Rangers with the honor of wearing the British Khaki Cadet Army Beret. The Cadet Ranger™ Program has since authorized the wear of the beret for all those who pass phase II in future Cadet Ranger™ Programs starting with 2013.
